Mike Johnson grew up in the inner city of Detroit and saw firsthand the challenges that Black youth face.
His parents were loving and supportive, but they also taught him to be tough and independent.
Mike excelled academically and was involved in sports and other extracurricular activities.
After college, he got a job as a financial advisor and quickly rose through the ranks.

Mike met the woman of his dreams, Sarah, and they had a son, Michael Jr.
Mike and Sarah wanted to raise their son differently than they were raised.
They enrolled him in a private school where he was surrounded by other Black and brown children.
