Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway are reportedly in talks to reunite for the second season of the popular comedy series “Beef.”
According to Deadline, showrunner and executive producer Lee Sung Jin is considering casting the former co-stars of “Love & Other Drugs” as a married couple, alongside Charles Melton and Cailee Spaeny in similar roles.
The scripts for the potentially limited season have already been submitted, and Netflix and A24 are anticipating production to begin in late summer or fall.
The first season of “Beef,” which premiered last year, featured Steven Yeun and Ali Wong as a feuding duo resorting to petty tactics for revenge. The series received acclaim for its performances and execution, earning multiple nominations and accolades. It recently received recognition at the Sunday Spirits and Producers Guild Awards, in addition to eight Primetime Emmy nominations, with Steven and Ali both receiving trophies.
During last week’s SAG Awards 2024, Ali Wong won Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series, beating out contenders such as Uzo Aduba, Kathryn Hahn, Brie Larson, and Bel Powley.
