Drew Barrymore finds herself in a dilemma over her 1995 Playboy cover and her 11-year-old daughter Olive’s fashion choices, as she revealed during an interview on “The Drew Barrymore Show” on Tuesday.
Barrymore revealed I want to get my daughter a crop top. She’ll remark, “You were on the cover of Playboy,” when I answer no. In a Las Vegas interview, she brought up this subject with Christina Aguilera, the five-time Grammy Award winner and Venetian resident who also shared a similar experience with her daughter.
“I knew it was coming the day I wore chaps,” Aguilera said. In addition, my daughter wants to don a crop top. And I think to myself, “Can we just take it down?” Aguilera stressed the value of instilling in her 9-year-old daughter the ability to discern between good and evil intentions in others.
Despite their past risqué choices, both Barrymore and Aguilera expressed no regrets and want their daughters to embrace their own choices as they grow older. Barrymore, reminiscing about her Playboy shoot, stated, “I loved every minute of it.” Aguilera added, “We were expressing ourselves and how we felt was best for us. We didn’t do it for someone else.”
Both women aim to empower their daughters to feel comfortable in their own skin and embrace their bodies. Aguilera emphasized the empowering aspect of being female and embracing one’s body, rejecting labels and judgments.
Barrymore and Aguilera, mothers to Olive and Frankie, and Summer Rain and Max Liron, respectively, acknowledged the challenges of their children following in their footsteps. Despite the difficulties, they are determined to guide their daughters through a sense of self-empowerment.
In discussing parenting, Aguilera recommended age-appropriate conversations about past experiences, ensuring the children understand and learn from their parents’ journeys. The two celebrities expressed gratitude for their free-spirited upbringing but acknowledged the complexities of their children navigating similar paths.
The interview also touched upon the star-studded events of February, featuring photos of notable celebrities, including Sheryl Lee Ralph posing with SAG Award statues on Feb. 24, 2024, leading up to the Oscars in the coming weeks.
